Choose the perfect place. An indoor garden can serve two purposes. For one, it’s a more cost-effective option for fresh produce, but it’s also a simple way to add to a room’s decor. Why not make it the focal point of a kitchen nook or enclosed porch?
Select the right pot. Though it may be tempting to replant your new greenery in larger quarters, choosing a pot that is more than 2 inches larger in diameter from the plant’s original pot can be devastating.
Let there be light. As you know, plants need plenty of sunlight to flourish, so it’s important to pick a place in your home where natural light is abundant. That usually means staying close to windows and doors.
Purchase a grow light. In some instances, especially when you’re trying to expand past herbs and into growing fruits and veggies, an alternative light source is required. Your local home improvement store or garden center should be able to help you choose the perfect one.
Remember to water. As an indoor gardener you can’t rely on mother nature to help out with watering. Your watering routine will depend on your home’s specific conditions and how much heat and sunlight the plants receive. To determine when you should water, keep an eye on your plants, feeling the soil to make sure it has not become too dry.
