3 Ways to Prepare Your Property for Winter

Posted on November 13th, 2017

While your plants, flowers, and grass might be entering their dormancy stage, your property should still be well-maintained leading into the winter. Before the winter weather really sets in, there are a few preparations you should see to:

Treat your property to some winter preparation before the snow starts to fly!

Keep Cutting

Just because it’s cold out doesn’t mean you should stop cutting your lawn. Your lawn mower’s blade should be lowered to a two-inch height in the late fall to ensure a healthy lawn for spring. You’ll know when to stop cutting when you no longer see lawn clippings.

Exterior Faucet Care

All of your outside faucets should be drained before freezing temperatures become an everyday thing. Be sure to also turn off their water supply and cover them with faucet covers filled with insulation. Refusing to do so can result in cracked faucets and burst pipes.

Lawn Mower Maintenance

Once you decide to stop mowing your lawn, the lawn mower should be cleaned and stored for winter. Wash the mower clean of any clippings or dirt. Now would be a great time to sharpen its blade, fill the tank, and add in a fuel stabilizer for when it sits these next couple of months.

Winter is almost here, but there are still some things you should do to your property before snow begins to fall!
